The biological meaning of adult is a term used to describe an animal that is capable of reproducing. The term "adult" is often applied to humans to mean the legal and social aspects. Legal adults are those who is at the point of maturity. They are considered to be independent, self sufficient and accountable. Also, they can be described as an "major". The age at which a child can legally become an adult is 18 years old, however the definition of maturity may differ based on the country or legal system, as well as their psychological state.

The stage of development for humans that is when physical and mental maturity has been achieved. Commonly, adulthood begins around the age of 21, or 20. Middle age starts at about 40 years old and then it is followed by an older age of around 60. As we grow older, there are three distinct phases The first is early adulthood (18-30 years) and Middle Adulthood (30-60 years) and late adulthood (60%-60 percent). It is the time to complete physical development by the time we reach our early adulthood (20-40s) however, the weight and height may rise a bit. In the early years of adulthood, we attain the top of our physical capabilities.
